On December 9,2024, it was reported that global shipments of small-size organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels increased by 7.8% in the third quarter from the previous quarter. Samsung Display ranked first, while BOE and LG Display ranked second and third.

      According to UBI Research's recently released "Fourth Quarter Small-size OLED Display Market Tracking" report, small-size OLED shipments reached 247 million units in the third quarter, an increase of 7.8% from the previous quarter and an increase of 32.6% from the same period last year.

Samsung ranked first with a 39 percent market share (95.9 million units). Boe accounted for 13% (31.6 million units); LG Display accounted for 12 percent (29.8 million units); Vicigna accounted for 11% (27.6 million units), Tianma accounted for 11% (25.5 million units), TCL Huxing Optoelectronics accounted for 8% (20.5 million units), and Hehui Optoelectronics accounted for 5% (13 million units).

Overall, compared with the second quarter, Samsung, BOE, etc., basically flat, or slightly decreased, while LG Display, and glow electric shipments increased significantly.

In the third quarter, LG Display shipped 17.6 million iPhone panels, an increase of 64% from the previous quarter, which is a reflection of the panel performance of the iPhone 16 series. Smartwatch panel shipments increased 147% from the previous quarter to 12.2 million units. LG Display's small-size OLED revenue grew 74% from the previous quarter and 115% from the same period last year.

UBI Research data shows that shipments of Hehui Electric and Tianma have increased. In particular, the shipment of Hehui electric reached 13 million units, more than tripled from the previous quarter. While Samsung showed a slight decline in shipments, boe's shipments were flat compared with the second quarter.

UBI Research said: "LG Display, Samsung Display and boe are expected to increase shipments. Considering that the fourth quarter is the largest seasonal feature of OLED shipments, it is expected that the global shipment of OLED panels for smartphones will exceed 800 million units this year.
